I was invited to take pictures of a newly found choir in Copenhagen. The choir is lead by Sigrid Damsager. At the Summer concert - with 13C outside they performed classial and modern music of Gjeilo, Nielsen, Faber, Andriessen and Mendelssohn.
The concert took place in a perfect location - a high and light representative room in Regensen in the centre of Copenhagen, just at the Round Tower.
This choir gave a great perfomance. I enjoyed it, especially because I got to heard most pieces for first time.
I wish the choir a successful future!
Rehersals are far easy for photogrphy than the concerts them selves, beause one can move around and sometimes even use a flash without disturbing the performance or the audience.
For the portraits I used a 300mm at 2,8 with VR. For the group pictures a 50mm at 1,4 to 2,0. Some pictures were taken with a 85/1,8. For a low depth of filed I like to use the lenses wide open, although it is a challenge to focus precisely with a high resolution camera.
There was some scandinavian eveninglight light from the windows on both sides and artificial light in the room. I used a on-camera flash to the high but white seiling during the rehersals. That gave a nice mix of cool and warm light.
