The wether forcast for May 16, 2015 promised 15m/s and 2-2,5m wave for teh Kattegat. We decided not to go to our favorite home spot at the coast north of Copenhagen, but to Sweden to a quite remote spot in beautiful landscape and the Bjäre peninsula.
This spot offers really steep and powerful waves and has become quite popular among the Swedish wave riders. This day, five windsurfers from Copenhagen shared the session.
Also the sun help a lot to on the image quality - even ISO 100 was possible! This spot is superb for photography. The wave riding hapens very close to the rocks to the photographer. 300-400mm gives close full frame images that do not need cropping. (Nikon D800 & 300/mm 2,8 with TC-1,4; 1/1600, aperture 4, auto-ISO 100-200 on a cheap alu tripod that survives salt water and sand.)
My friends Nikolaj Ernst and Jens Kirk shared the photo shooting with my equipment. They did a pretty good job!
