Steel Art - Landschaftspark Duisburg

July 28, 2017

Steel and coal was the engine for the western German "Wirtschaftwunder" in the 50ies.

Until the early 80ies the Ruhr area  or "Kohlenpott" was a heavily polluted. The smog was as bad as it is today in mega cities like Beijing. The ashes can be found in Greenland. Since the 80ies the area is green and clean, except for pollution by cars.

The Thyssen Stahlwerk should have been demolished, but an initiative by the population of Duisburg succeded to get it converted into an industry park "Landschaftspark Duisburg".

The light installation was designed by Jonathan Park can been seen every evening after sunset.
